about

This song is a conversation I had with my friend, Zoe, and it comprised of how people (myself included) need to just stop floating around, and move forward. It doesn't matter which direction you go, there just needs to be some action, instead of moping about. You might be surprised at what comes your way when you start to live like that. It is a quite freeing.

I have always loved the ocean, but I still fear it. Yet, the ocean always reminds of this bigger pictures, as I think of all the already-powerful bodies of water that pour into it, I can only imagine what would happen if I stepped out too far into the ocean. And sometimes, you just have to find out...

Anyways, this song is a conversation between myself, Zoe, and God. Kind of my own take on a "rock-opera", if you will. Only, I'm no "Tommy".

lyrics

(Me)
"I know, I know, I know
I cannot stay in this place
So I'd best be on my way

I know, I'd love to go where I
Am not known, by anyone
And so, I must
Go."

(Zoe)
"Come now, come now;
Calm down," she said,
"Quiet those hurried thoughts,
Rushing around.
Slow down, breathe in, come down.
Follow the flowing streams
To the shoreline."

(God)
"Come; rest your eyes
My little child
Lay your head down
A little while
Come away,
From this night
Rise again,
And go in the morning light

(Me)
"Light in the dark;
Open my door.
You've brought me to this shoreline;
Carry me away.

But I cannot
Swim through these waves
Take me away
To what may remain."
